Using a simple and secure 5 step process, Retasure delivers rapid assessment and results which can significantly improve the diagnosis and treatment of patients with pathology.

HOW RETASURE OPERATES
Digital Healthcare provides a complete service for diabetic retinal imaging. Digital Healthcare provides and supports the imaging instrument at the Primary Care Physician's site and remotely access' the system through a secure network to ensure that it is functioning correctly.

STEP 1 - RETINAL IMAGES CAPTURED
The test and technology are non-invasive. This is a five minute procedure. The images are shown on the screen so that focus and general image quality can be validated and checked locally.

STEP 2 - SECURE SERVER
The primary care physician's system automatically connects securely and transmits the images to the remote server and validates the link using encrypted messages.

STEP 3 - IMAGES READ BY SPECIALIST
Digital Healthcare contracts with a network of Optometrists and state licensed, board certified ophthalmologists. Images presented to the clinical grader are read according to clinical guidelines based on the ETDRS (the Early Treatment Diabetic Retinopathy Study). Any pathology that is present is classified and any other eye disease is documented.

STEP 4 - RESULTS
Based on the grade, a standard report is then securely sent and transmitted back directly to the originating primary care physician.

STEP 5 - REFERRAL TO AN EYE CARE PROFESSIONAL
The primary care physician can refer patients with pathology to a local optometrist, ophthalmologist or retina specialist. The eye care professional can review the report and digital images from their office via a secure login to the network. With any result other than no pathology, the American Diabetes Association recommends an immediate referral to an eye care professional.
